MINI presents its innovative and surprising ‘home sweet home’, converted into an urban creation space in the midst of the noise of the big city.
To create this installation entitled Home Urban Home, MINI decided to work with Madrid studio MYYC, active for over a decade and that has demonstrated in each project a great interest in architecture committed to the planet and to innovation in the urban milieu.
This installation, which will be open throughout the month of February at one of the offices of Madrid Design Festival, will prove that the creative use of space for which MINI is a specialist is not only possible, but also enduring, as once the festival has ended, it will be permanently installed to function as a residence and working space for creators from all over the world.

The PET Lamp project came about in 2011 in response to the growing problem of plastic waste in oceans, particularly in the Colombian Amazon. The project tackled this by converting plas- tic bottles into ceiling lamps using the textile techniques of local craftspeople.
To date, PET Lamp has achieved a global dimension that includes craftsperson communities and ‘satellite’ collaborators on several continents. In addition to developing an attractive and con- temporary product, the project is infused with the creative DNA of the natives from each community and captures the identities and folklores of different corners of the world in each object.
The lamps stand out as a unique product, soaked in history and symbolism.
The project is endorsed by several international awards and nominations. The display windows of Zara Home shops will be the perfect setting to display PET Lamp Pikul individually, illus- trating its design and production process for the very first time.
Inspiring creation. The experience of flying is transformed into a large installation that is disembarking at the festival at the hands of Iberia Airlines.
Iberia has been teaching us about design for over 90 years: via the aerodynamics of its airplanes, the care taken in designing the cabins, the lovely uniforms of the crews… A relationship between creativity and travel that, during the Madrid Design Festival, shows how it wants to make us fly in a whole new way via From Madrid to Heaven, a large-scale installation at the Only YOU Hotel Atocha . For some time now, Iberia has been supporting talent and creativity in different cultural fields through the initiative Talentoabordo (TalentAllAboard), which will be showcased at the festival by creative studio Preforma from Barcelona. The installation is an immersive creation that takes visitors into the sky/Heaven—and hence its name—thanks to a healthy dose of imagination and great design.
Date: From February 1 to 28
Location: Only You Hotel Atocha
Entrance: Free admission until full capacity

The NAO is a boat that carries the illusions of a crew that dreams of inhabiting a world where many others fit. Constructed of natural materials and recycled with the work of a choir of hands, the hull of the boat takes the form of a womb and the candles evoke the folds of the skin putting in constant dialogue body and ideas. Armed in the shipyard of the Workshop of Design of SUR School of Artistic Professions, the boat sails with a fixed course towards the Madrid Design Festival 2019. It is a structure made with cane and recycled textiles that will be located on the terrace of La Pecera del Círculo of Fine Arts of Madrid between the 12th and the 17th of February. Rocked by the wind of daily life, the NAO floats on the sea of Madrid, becoming a No-place that resists the attacks of the black mirror of our screens. It is, finally, a piece that raises a dialogue between builders and spectators, an invitation for those who want to get out of the routine bubble and discover that, in the universe that we navigate, we all fit on board.
On February 12, the NAO will be launched, the boat designed and manufactured by the Design Workshop of the SUR School of Artistic Professions with a meeting with its crew at the Sala María Zambrano of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and a guided tour to the intervention on the terrace of La Pecera of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Free admission until full capacity in the María Zambrano Room of the Círculo de Bellas Artes.
