The Madrid Design Festival Awards aim to recognise the work of outstanding professionals in the design arena and cast the limelight on this discipline.
The Awards Ceremony will be held at the venue of the Chartered Institute of Architects in Madrid (COAM) on February 12th.
The three award-winners will take part in the MadridDesignPRO professional conference by giving three talks on their sources of inspiration and their own idea of design.

The third annual festival will be held in February 2020. Its programme will include over 250 activities, featuring 66 exhibitions, 12 installations and the participation of over 400 design experts.
MDF20 will open on 29th January with two exhibitions: Nature Morte Vivante by Patricia Urquiola and I Work! Because that’s what I’m like, at the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa venue.
The festival will also be featuring Giorgetto Giugiaro, Bruno Monguzzi, Mario Ruiz, Elvis Wesley, Willie Williams, Enorme Estudio, Mayice, Juli Capella, Izaskun Chinchilla, Waugh Thistleton Architects, Oteyza, Francesca Zampollo, Carlos Fontales or Saenz de Oíza and H Muebles.
The functionality of design, its power to drive change, its social and educational facet, new materials, sustainability and responsible consumption will be some of the core topics on the programme.
This year, the festival will be counting on new venues, including CaixaForum, the ICO Museum, Tabacalera, El Instante Fundación and the Palacio de Santa Bárbara.
Turin will be the guest city of Madrid Design Festival 2020. Through its exhibitions and forums, the festival will reveal the history and current landscape of design in a city that became a UNESCO “Creative City” in the field of design in 2014.
The Barcelona Design Week and Madrid Design Festival will be joining forces in a project that aims to tackle future global challenges faced by both cities.
MadridDesignPRO will be hosting three one-day conferences with relevant figures in Spanish and international design who will take part in talks, workshops, masterclasses and shows.
Festival OFF will count on 62 spaces, including galleries, shops, architecture and interior design studios, restaurants and pop-up stores.

MadridDesignPRO, the festival’s professional programme, brought together renowned professionals like Li Edelkoort, Petrus Palmér, Jan Boelen, Benjamin Hubert and Jaime Hayon for 150 hours of activities at COAM
Madrid Design Festival welcomed 105 participating institutions, brands and spaces which hosted 248 activities with the participation of 420 designers and professionals and 66 exhibitions and urban installations
The Festival OFF hosted almost twice as many spaces as last edition with a total of 77 shops, spaces, showrooms, restaurants and design studios
The festival recognised Gaetano Pesce and El último grito with the Madrid Design Awards
The exhibitions continue in different spaces around the city: Fine Print: Illustration and Fashion in the Museo ABC until the 19th of May; The Power of the Image. Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada in the Museo del Traje until the 31st of March; and the four shows at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, among others

Aristocrazy Design Bootcamp: a co-creation initiative to support emerging young creative talent
On this occasion, the committee of experts, including Bilbao International Art & Fashion (BIAAF) selected two participants: from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp (Amberes), the Shenkar School of Engineering and Design In Israel, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York and the BIAAF in Bilbao
The chosen group will spend 13, 14, 15, and 16 February on a unique educational experience called Soul of Glass, a workshop designed by Aristocrazy under the guidance of the Mayice design studio
The festival’s second edition will be held during February 2019 with a programme replete with 202 activities, among them 53 exhibitions and 12 installations, bringing together 410 design professionals.
The festival starts on 1 February with the opening of the exhibitions Darro: Design and Art (1959- 1979); Meticulous design: Contemporary Spanish Crafts; and Super Packaging, Design serving Design, at the Fernán Gómez, Centro Cultural de la Villa
Crafts, industrial and product design, fashion, urban planning, graphic design, architecture, illustration, sustainability and technology will be just some of the disciplines present at the festival
Music and gastronomy are new features at this edition, with a concert schedule and a Food Design space

On 14, 15 and 16 February at COAM, MadridDesignPRO will bring together big names in national and international design who, under the slogan Redesign the World, will participate in panel sessions, workshops and masterclasses
