Josep Maria Mir (Barcelona, 1949) is the executive creative director, partner and founder of Summa, a pioneer branding consultancy in Spain. Mir has spent his entire life devoted to creativity and design. After forming part of the graphic studio Mir & Nolla and establishing his own personal office, in 1989 he founded Summa along with Conrad Llorens, a consulting firm that won the National Design Award and where they take responsibility for the graphic conceptualisation of projects, as well as running and supervising the teams that are involved with them. For over two decades, he has been the vice-president of ADGFAD, director of the LAUS Awards, member of the FAD Board of Directors and board member of the BCD Foundation. He has also worked as the director and lecturer in the EINA Department of Graphic Design, as well as a lecturer and tutor for thesis projects at Elisava. He has also been the Spanish representative at several general assemblies of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA) and a member of advisory committees at important public institutions including MEAC, the Olympics office for the Barcelona 1992 candidature and the Cultural Division of the Barcelona City Council. His work has been recognised with several awards; he is fascinated by shapes and has an excellent sense of humour.
